In a pivotal move for the future of the region's natural heritage, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has officially given its seal of approval to a crucial 10-member expert committee. This high-powered panel is now tasked with the vital responsibility of accurately defining the Aravalli hills, a decision poised to have significant implications for their protection and conservation.

The Ministry's endorsement was conveyed through an affidavit filed before the Supreme Court, solidifying the formation of this essential body. The committee brings together a wealth of diverse expertise, comprising both in-service and retired bureaucrats from prestigious national organizations such as the Forest Survey of India (FSI), the Geological Survey of India (GSI), and the Survey of India.
